Hi Barry

Just looked at all those old photos of AC and I want to thank you for sharing them with us. They were absolutely fabulous and brought back some really fond memories. Angelos Tavern and Randos Bakery from my Pitney Village days. All those old movie theaters especially those on the Boardwalk where you had to dress in your finery when you went. The list goes on and on.

Was great seeing the photos of the Greek Orthodox church where I spent a lot of Sundays. The Steel Pier - my Dad used to always give me free passes to go there and we always spent the entire day taking part in all that the pier offered. But I'm probably not telling you anything that most of our classmates did themselves. Thanks again.

lechard To update you: I keep busy here in New Jersey by spending a lot of time as a volunteer at Our Lady's Multi Care Center in Pleasantville. I do go to Maryland frequently; That's my primary residence. Also travelling around visiting my sons and their families in Massachuetts and North Carolina. And just travelling.

A Poem by Danny Bartolini

Your touch sends bird wings
fluttering in my being:
I am a sea bird soaring on unseen updrafts,
propelled by the sunlight sparkle in your eyes.

You and I like sky and sea
kiss only at a distance;
while sand dunes and sea grass
define the margin of my being.

Do I dare to dream the dream of you and me
wandering through twilight
before the night’s engulfing mandate
of perpetual darkness.

Or is there forever
in the sea foam wisping through your hair
on the windy white sand beach
on a bright summer day.

Dear Barry really enjoyed the slide shows of your trips especially since Stephanie(Stephanie Friss ACHS Class of 1958) and I went to Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, cruised down the Magellan Strait to Cape Horn and the penguin island of Magdalena, then on to the wilds of Patagonia(Torres del Paine), the Chilean lake district and Santiago(just before the earthquake).

We are in Rockville MD as we spend 6 months here and 6 months in Delray Beach Florida.I still work in AC helping out my old practice a few days a month between May and November and get to see old friends.Stephanie threw me a 75th Bday party in Florida which included Marvin Becker(ACHS '54) wife Mille(Belber ACHS'59), Lee Levine(ACHS'55) and Rhoda Malamut (Horn ACHS'57) plus kids and grands. We are going to celebrate my 75th and Stephanie's 70 with a cruise from Barcelona to Lisbon in November. Will send you a few photos when we get back to Florida. Thanks for all your great work.
Lee

Just read the July Bits & Bytes & I really enjoyed the slide show on your trip to Antartica-it was fascinating to me so I can only try to imagine what it was like for you.

The next time we go to AC maybe I can get my own bench! That was a terrific idea. I guess this is the year most of us turn 75. I will in a few weeks & plan to spend a weekend with our 2 sons & 6 grandkids.Happy birthdays and stay well.

Barry, You are one-heck-of-a-photographer. I looked through some of your albums
and can only say that your eye for composition and light are terrific. I'm sure
that everyone thanks you for the ACHS '53 work that you do, as do I. It's
great !!!

Dear Barry:
You know that you've arrived when you have your own bench in Atlantic City. Keep up the good work with Bits & Bytes. You should ask everyone from our class to send in a recent photo. I wonder how often we see a former classmate walking down the street or in a restaurant and don't recognize them? I've enclosed mine.
Regards,
Dick Block

Hi Barry,
So nice to hear from you today. We are having high digit temperatures this week and I feel zonked. I will read your messages a bit later.

I have sad news this year. My husband of almost 54 years passed away in May. I am trying to take a day at a time to do the many things that must be done. We were able to have him interred at the Military Cemetery in Riverside, California a couple of weeks ago. The service was very special to us because we were a Navy family for ten years. When the folded flag was presented to me, I cried. I have spoken to Earl Lee and he knew about my plight. He calls me every few months to see how I am doing. He has been a friend since high school. I think everyone remembers him.

I wish everyone a wonderful summer.
Many Hugs,
Joan Parker Harris

Hope you're having a great summer. Your website is a real asset , and it keeps us abreast of our classmates and what they're up to now.

I had dinner with Ira Helfgott and his wife, and Billy Jane and Lou Maul at the Borgata last night.

Out of the blue a week ago, I got a call from Bob Seher. I found out he only lives 10 minutes from me in Haddonfield. He goes to A.C. once a week to gamble at Harrah's.

I retired from the N.J. State Dept. of Education after 40 years, and opened my own educational consulting company, assisting school districts in writing applications to apply for federally funded programs.

Keep up the good work,

Ed Markman
